How Important Is The Right Advice?

Supercharge and Accelerate Your Thinking

I recently completed a powerful little booklet called Are You Coachable? This book suggests a simple idea—most people could be more coachable. Simply put, people don’t seek advice to the level they should, or could, to advance their thinking, compress time to execute, and mitigate risk.

My business mentor and great friend, Jay Rodgers, is the co-author of Advice Matters.

I wrote Are You Coachable? in response to a question I asked him years ago,

“Jay, why do you like giving me advice so much?” He replied, “Because you listen, and you act.“

Now, Jay’s in his 80s and has seen much more of the business world than I have. That’s another 2 decades on this earth doing deals, growing companies, and learning from mistakes. I crave that wisdom. I crave every advantage I can in making the best decisions, assembling teams, gaining clarity, and ensuring focus. How about you?

What’s your internal narrative on seeking the right advice, partnering with the right people, and learning from paid advisors? Are you all in, or are you only in when you feel like it?

Top 7 Advantages of the Right Advice:

  1. Uncovers blind spots
  2. Advances your clarity, increasing pulling power
  3. Prioritizes and focuses you on what matters most
  4. Inspires you to act
  5. Expands your possibilities
  6. Mitigates risk
  7. Creates synergy with the right person or team

The list goes on and on.

Remember “same thinking, same results”?

This is not all bad, but it could be better. The question is: Can I work the same amount of time and produce better, faster results if I have hand-selected information coming into my brain?

Coaches should care about your success. I have had 2 coaches most of my life. Mark has been coaching me for over 35 years. Why? He cares about my success and helps me sort and prioritize. He inspires me.
